“In the summer of 2007, our family packed up our car and drove across Canada in order to relocate from Oakville, Ontario to Westbank, British Columbia. Having only been to British Columbia to purchase a house in May 2007, I was soon captivated by the beauty of the landscape of our new home in the Okanagan.

For the past few months I have had the privilege to explore my new home with both the eyes of a tourist and a local resident. Here in the Okanagan, we are surrounded by incredible beauty, and, as an artist, I feel like a kid in a candy store.

Part of the charm of the Okanagan, I have discovered, is subdivisions of modern homes surrounded by old-world vineyards which bend and move with the ups and downs of the mountain contours. The repetition of these rows of fruit trees and vineyards are broken by other fields of perpendicular vineyard stripes causing a wonderful patterened patchwork. Another part of the Okanagan charm, is winding roads opening-up to reveal spectacular mountainous views.

Beauty of the Okanagan – Distance and Details is a collection of paintings inspired by this exploration of my new environment. Not only is there beauty in the distant landscapes, but when you visit these places up-close and personal, another world of beauty awaits.” - Rebekah
